I was raised in a house on a quiet dirt road in northeast New Jersey, so I’ve grown accustomed to the tranquil riverside cafés, ubiquitous flee markets, and frog laden ponds. I’ve taken day long bike rides along the Delaware River toe paths, embarked on frequent road trips to Long Beach Island, and drank bottles of Yuengling Lager on warm summer nights; life was simple.
It’s only fitting that once my life became more complicated -- mortgage payments, house repairs, and identity theft -- my palate, too, would follow. Enter Blue Point Brewing's award-winning Toasted Lager. Its flagship product, made from six different malts—yes, six—nicely balances the flavor of malt with hop, measuring 28 IBUs and 5.3% ABV. The "toasted" part of the name refers to the brew kettle’s ‘direct-fire’ flames that produce a toasted flavor.
Unlike it’s brother, Hoptical Illusion, Blue Point’s “in your face” take on the American IPA, Toasted lager is a complex, thirst quenching lager that is sure to put the brakes on a fast paced, mind numbing day.
