mothering Mother Bulk/Produce Bags

mothering Mother's reusable cotton produce bags, bulk bags, and tote bags "support the health of your food and the health of your family." The woman-founded company based out of upstate NY, recently sent me a couple of their bags to try in exchange for an honest review.

First, I'll show you the bags.

They're made from unbleached cotton with either a drawstring (produce) or velcro (bulk) closure. Each has the tare weight printed on the front to take the guesswork out for the cashier (or, in this case, for me -- I always forget to record tare weight).

I think my favorite part is really the bulk velcro closure. It's very reliable with no leaking of ingredients. We bought bulk oats, lentils, and couscous with them so far, and no mishaps. The bags themselves seem very sturdy and like they will hold up for years to come.

My only issue was that the grocers around my area are totally unfamiliar with non-plastic bags. I got a lot of "uh, what IS this?" or just general distrust (because you can't see through them, obviously -- one cashier even double checked that I was telling them the truth). But enough fellow shoppers in the produce section marveled at how cool they were, so it balanced out.
