It's Not Delivery. It's . . .

>> Friday, March 2, 2012

Not DiGiorno either. But it tastes even better than our favorite pizza that we get out. Even better than the many pizza recipes we've posted on this site. I know it's Friday evening and you probably have plans. But if you can find 10 minutes, I suggest you mix together this awesome no-knead pizza dough that I found on Bon Appetit.

Then after 18 hours of rising, put together these ingredients to make a sweet sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 24 ounces tomato puree
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Fenugreek or onion powder
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Method . . .
  1. Place all ingredients in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Cook uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

The instructions for cooking the pizza are interesting (and on the site I provided above). You actually preheat your oven to its hottest setting for an hour with a pizza stone inside. Then you place your dough on the stone, top with your sauce and cheese/etc., and change the heat to broil.

It only takes about 7 minutes until you have this great pizza.

The dough is . . .

Light
Crispy
Moist
Chewy
Delicious
Thin
Bubbly

And I have no idea how it's able to be so many things all at once. I love food. We all know that. However, this particular recipe was almost too good to be true. So, we're making it again tonight . . . just to make sure we weren't dreaming.

OTHER NO-KNEAD RECIPES:

Basic and Bubbly White-Whole Wheat Loaf
No-Knead Chocolate-Walnut Bread
Crusty Garlic & Tuscan Herb Loaf

>> Tuesday, July 27, 2010

It's recap week, day 2! And today we're cooking up for you our best soup and stew recipes. When I did my digging for this post, I was incredibly surprised by the number of slurp-able posts I spooned up. Basically: We love soups because they're easy to create and oh-so satisfying. Just add some slices of your favorite bread and a small salad, and you've got yourself a filling meal.

We'd love to know what your favorite soup and/or stew recipes are, too. If you have one on the tip of your tongue, just leave us a comment or email us at neverhomemaker [at] gmail [dot] com.
